The allure of rugged mountain wilderness and lush rainforests of Prince Rupert, my birth town, and my eventual move to Victoria, BC, Canada, with its haunting beauty of the wild west coast, created a deep reverence for nature.
Through constant creative exploration of the natural world, I derive my inspirations from special places and beyond, where it seems that life begins on the boundaries between the real and imagined.
I contemplate an idea of what most intrigues me and begin painting. I traverse across large-scale canvases with a variety of brushwork and palette knife techniques. I am instinctively receptive to emerging motion and the interplay of colors reminiscent in all. I let myself be carried away by the act of painting. It’s like a dance of spontaneity, impulse, and imagination.
The emerging abstract, lyrical paintings live with layers of meaning. They reveal fleeting moments of time, and of mesmerizing places, like seeing nature for the first time.
The impressions invite viewers nearer to a graceful luminosity representative of my sensibility.
Paintings held in private collections worldwide.
